Amidst a violent schism in the Universal Church, an alchemist makes a startling discovery: Soulstone, the indestructible rock which conducts souls to God, can be cut. After appealing their arrest by the Inquisition, a council of cardinals and theologians is called to debate the charge of heresy.

Scenario Description
In the mortal world of toil and uncertainty, The Universal Church promises the ultimate relief: vita post mortem—life after death. The conduit to this afterlife is the Soulstone, a soul conducting mineral whose veins stretch deep into the planet's core where God is said to live. On the Earth's surface, Soulstone juts out in great, jagged pillars around which the churches are built. In these houses of worship, the clergy lead the layfolk in the ritual of mass, a beautiful group prayer that shines like a lamppost in the dark, guiding the souls of the dead to their salvation in the pillar. Without it, the souls of the dead would be left to wander the surface—lost, isolated, frightened—never finding paradise or God.
